Short Artist Statement:

Since 2003 I travel the world to follow my passion – taking photos of posterwalls. Not any, but the ones that are shaped by time and nature, wind and weather, rain and sun, and by human vandalism. These circumstances create „natural collages“ which no longer advertise an event or a product, but stand on ist own. I am after these moments to capture them with my camera – to freeze the moment – to stop the time. By now I travelled over 25 countries to take photos of old and tattered posterwalls. In February 2011 my first book with the title „Plakatief – A World in Layers“ got published at Kerber Verlag. In November 2011 it was nominated for the “Deutsche Fotobuchpreis 2012″.

Since 2005 I get involved with the actual posters aswell and make Collages / Decollages myself. Most of the pictures I put together from old Berlin posters, but sometimes I travel to other countries and stay for a little while to compose a whole new series with foreign posters. In 2009 for example I moved to Portugal for a while to make a portugese series. Since end of 2010 I am living in Spain to create new pieces with spanish posters.
